  • JUSTIFICATION
  • Please be aware that forms submitted without appropriate justifications and/or impact report will be returned to the proposer without consideration.

  • Provide a detailed narrative describing change(s) requested.*

We are proposing a change to the "Specialization" category. We currently require 15 hours of coursework in a "meta-major" in Arts and Sciences, which includes at least six hours of upper division (300- or above) coursework. We propose opening this by dropping the restriction to meta-majors. We will use this category to highlight depth of study, requiring at least 6 hours of upper division coursework. The category will be re-titled "Depth." The required upper division courses can come from one or more programs.

What is currently the "Electives" category will be re-titled "Breadth." We will expand the required number of hours to 20 to cover what was dropped in the "Specialization" category.

This will help the UCC members and the registrar evaluate changes requested.
  • Provide a detailed justification for the requested changes.*

The Associate of Arts in Integrative Studies is the only AA degree at NKU. We want it to be more flexible to play a better role as a pipeline to majors across the university, to better serve the Young Scholars Academy, and to support individual students' personal and professional needs. The revisions still capture our emphasis on interdisciplinary experiences with curricular breadth and depth, and will prepare students for their capstone experience.

For new classes that are not yet in the Catalog because they are still in the Curriculog Approval Process click on "Add Course"-- a box will open asking you for the Prefix, Course Number and Course Title.
