    Understanding and analysis of health data for application to evidence-based nursing practice for public health, health promotion, clinical prevention, and population health. Emphasis is placed on the use of health data and the best evidence in the application and evaluation of recommendations to improve health outcomes.

  • How does this new course strengthen the program?*

    We are updating our curriculum to reflect the guidelines for our accreditation body. Our standards require that our students have an understanding of the application of biostatistical data to public health, health promotion, clinical prevention, and population health.

  • How does it support the mission and vision of the department and university?*

    The focus will be on application to nursing care.

  • Is this course required or recommended for an accrediting body or for certification?*

    Yes.  This is part of The Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.

  • What is the expected number of sections to be offered per semester and enrollment per semester?*
    2 sections with 15 students in each section

    It is not directly replacing one course but in the overall curriculum revision it is bringing in parts of old courses and adding new required content.  It is needed to meet our accreditation requirements.
